One of the most common questions we hear is “what does CBD feel like” or “can you feel CBD?” The answer isn’t as simple as yes or no. How CBD feels to you will be different based on your body, history, dosage, and choice of products. Learn more about how CBD feels.
What does CBD feel like?
How long it takes to feel the effects of CBD will differ depending on your body type. Many of our customers report feeling the effects of our CBD products right away, while others take up to 45 minutes to start feeling the full effects. It may take a few days or weeks of daily use to feel the full effects of CBD.
There’s a misconception that CBD and THC produce very similar effects. When in reality, CBD doesn’t produce the high that THC does. With CBD you’ll have much more subtle effects. High-quality CBD will give a sense of calm and relaxation.
What does CBD feel like compared to THC?
THC and CBD have some therapeutic benefits that overlap. Some people may use THC to help with similar ailments that could be tackled with CBD. However, the experiences of THC and CBD couldn’t be more different.
THC has many side effects that can be uncomfortable and disrupt everyday life. Some of the negative side effects of THC include:
- Anxiety
- Paranoia
- Memory loss
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Nausea
With CBD, you won’t feel any of those negative effects.
How does CBD work?
Since CBD and THC come from similar plants, you’re probably wondering how they have such different effects on the body. Well, it all comes down to how they interact with the brain.
CBD and THC are both cannabinoids found in cannabis. Each has an impact on the cannabinoid type 1 (CB1) receptors in the brain. However, the impact of CBD on the brain is much different than THC.
THC activates CB1 receptors. Activating these receptors gives you the high associated with marijuana. On the other hand, CBD is a CB1 antagonist. CBD blocks the receptors from becoming fully active and blocks the high effects.
Does CBD have negative effects?
CBD rarely has negative impacts on mood and overall well-being. However, mild negative effects are possible. The rare and mild effects include:
- Dry mouth
- Drowsiness
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Loss of appetite
Negative impacts of CBD happen most with the improper dosage – especially higher dosage.
What does CBD feel like in higher dosage?
You might think CBD in higher doses would lead to a more powerful feeling. After all, more CBD leading to a stronger dosage is totally logical. But CBD actually defies this logic.
When it comes to dosage, CBD follows a “bell curve” pattern. Effects of CBD are biphasic, meaning there’s a negative impact between dosage and potency. The simplest way to think about it is, as dosage increases, the effects of CBD decrease.
In large doses, CBD is just as ineffective as it is in small doses. For CBD, to be the most effective for you, you’ll want to find what’s known as your “sweet spot.” The sweet spot is where you’ll find the peak effects of a medium dose.
When you first start taking CBD, you won’t know your sweet spot right away. That’s why we suggest starting with a small dose and working your way up to find your sweet spot.
CBD becomes most effective when taken consistently. Taking CBD regularly allows it to build up in your body and become more effective.
