What is CBD
What is CBD? Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of 85 phytocannabinoids known to currently exist in the cannabis plant with an expectation of more to come.
These different phytocannabinoids are known to exist in different levels in different varieties of cannabis. Most of the cannabinoids don’t exist in large enough concentrations to have any noticeable effect, but CBD concentration can be as high as 40% in CBD-rich cultivars of industrial hemp. Cannabidiol has been featured on Oprah, Dr. Oz, and credited by one of our country’s top medical minds, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, as the reason he changed his mind about unlimited potential of cannabis. FDA regulations prevent us from making any health related claims as it relates to people taking our products. This means that we cannot tell you about all the benefits of CBD, but you can do your own research. Simply complete an internet search for “CBD health” and you’re on your way. It’s that easy.
How do we get CBD* in our products?
CBD is extracted from our special variety of industrial hemp that contains naturally high concentrations of CBD. The result is a raw oil that is high in CBD, virtually free of THC (less than 0.03%,) and complete with a full spectrum of other cannabinoids and terpenes, which work synergistically to make CBD* even more effective. The hemp oil is then shipped to our labs to converted into the all natural, water soluble BioCBD™ through our patented process. Our groundbreaking, 100% bioavailable formulations are then made into the products you have come to depend on as the best and safest source of CBD* available on the market.
How does CBD work?
Did you know that your body produces its own cannabinoids similar to CBD and THC? These endogenous cannabinoids are a part of a system that acts as the “master control system” of the body. That same system is designed to work with CBD! The endogenous cannabinoid system, or endocannabinoid system (ECS), is a recently discovered system of naturally occurring cannabinoids and cannabinoid receptor sites throughout your entire body!
There are two receptors that make up the endocannabinoid system: CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are found mostly in the nervous system, connective tissues, gonads, glands, and organs. CB2 receptors are primarily found in the immune system and the structures associated with healthy immune functioning. Unlike THC, which overstimulates the CB1 and CB2 receptors directly, CBD signals the body’s natural mechanisms to activate those receptors to do more of what they do naturally.
With these cannabinoid receptor sites spread throughout our entire bodies, you can only imagine the importance of having these receptors working properly in order to keep this important internal system functioning to protect you.
It is through this powerful system that CBD can do its magic, but we cannot make any medical claims. We once again encourage you to do your own research with the information we have provided.
Are CBD Products Safe?
The compound cannabidiol itself is safe, but not all CBD products are created equally, so do your own research on both the company and their products.
Oil-based cannabidiol products are not easily absorbed by the body, with what we believe is a 6% bioavailability in the body on average, and often require high concentrations of CBD to produce the desired effects.
Sometimes the body cannot get rid of the extra elements that cannot be absorbed, and if you take these products daily and in large doses, the ingredients can build up in your system and lead to unpleasant side effects. This is especially unsettling considering a large portion of people requiring CBD for medicinal purposes are children. All natural and water soluble BioCBD literally changes the meaning of what a safe product can be. When you take our products, your body takes in only what it needs, and because it is water soluble, the rest is gently removed from your system, eliminating the chance for toxic buildup and negative side effects.
My Doctor Does Not Know About CBD
Why would they? For almost a 100 years our government has been telling people that there is no medicinal value when it comes to cannabinoids. The first endogenous cannabinoid wasn’t discovered till the mid 1990’s and more are being discovered every day. In fact, in 2003, the National Institutes of Health filed and were granted a patent titled ‘Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants’, which they are now shopping around to the highest bidder. CBD is the next great revolution in nutraceuticals, and doctors around the world are having discussions about CBD with informed patients who are looking for answers when it comes to their health.
